Dniprodzerzhynsk is a city in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast of Ukraine, and a port on the Dnieper River. Population 252,100 (2008 estimate).

The city was founded in the mid-18th century as Kamenskoye and was renamed in honor of Felix Dzerzhynsky, the founder of the Bolshevik secret police (the Cheka) in 1936

The economic base of Dniprodzerzhynsk is almost exclusively centered on heavy industry, with ferrous metallurgy being the backbone of the local economy. More then half of the total industrial production is metallurgy and metal working. The chemical industry comes second important industry of the region. Due to high dencity of industrial enterprises that arrange waste storage with high radiation background in the city and the close area, Dniprodzerzhynsk is considered to be one of the most contaminated cities in Ukraine.

The city educational institutuions include Dniprodzerzhynsk State Technical University and a number of technical schools.
